![]() ![]() West: I have thought a lot about writing a book. Have you ever thought about releasing your stories as novels? Or is it always put together with the screen in mind? Sims: I noticed that you write most of your own screenplays. ![]() 99% of the time the only thing stopping you from doing it is yourself. We pulled it off by the skin of our teeth and have been trying to keep the ball rolling ever since. West: I made short films, showed them to filmmaker Larry Fessenden who liked them enough to give me some money to make a feature. Sims: We have many readers that are aspiring movie makers. Then we went back to the real place to film it. So I wrote The Innkeepers about those strange experiences we had staying there. While we were out in the middle of nowhere making a satanic horror film, weirder things were happening back at the hotel. West: When we made The House of the Devil the cast/crew stayed in The Yankee Pedlar Inn because it was a cheap place to stay. Sims: Where did you get the inspiration for The Innkeepers? Sims: With movies such as Cabin Fever 2 and The House of the Devil in your filmography, is there an attachment towards horror that keeps bringing you back? What is that? As they attempt their low-budget investigation they quickly get in over their heads. They want to get proof that it’s haunted before it goes out of business. West: It’s about two nerds who work in a haunted hotel. Sims: Can you tell us a little about your new movie, The Innkeepers? If you are looking for a good haunted house movie then I would definitely recommend The Innkeepers.
